The Ugly Ducklings - The Ugly Ducklings (Vinyl)

Canadian garage rock band The Ugly Ducklings released a self-titled compilation album in 1982. The album consists of the band's selected recordings from the mid-1960s, plus some previously unreleased material. The album shows the band expanding on their chippy rockabilly style, made famous with tracks like "Nothin'." "Gaslight" includes a haunting organ/piano, a growling horn section, and twinkling glockenspiel. The band's sound draws comparisons to fellow garage rock groups The Kinks, Them (Van Morrison), and The Sonics, as well as more contemporary acts like The White Stripes and Spoon. Elements of The Who, The Rolling Stones, and The Yardbirds can also be heard in their recordings.
